Plaintiff was a peace officer acting as lead escort for an oversize load transport through the high desert in the middle of the night. While stopped at an intersection, Plaintiff was rear-ended by the pilot truck of the oversize load transport. The impact cause injuries to Plaintiff’s cervical and lumbar spine ultimately requiring fusion surgeries to be performed in both locations. As a result, Plaintiff was unable to continue to work as a peace officer. He suffered past and future medical expenses, past and future lost wages and has partial permanent disabilities resulting from the collision.
The case was tried in Joshua Tree, CA and the jury returned with a verdict in favor of Plaintiff in the amount of $1,815,401
