July 15, 2012

A two vehicle collision Sunday afternoon lead to the tragic death of two boys. The accident occurred on Interstate 15 north of Deer Springs Road around 2:30 pm. The vehicles involved included a Dodge Caravan driven by Roy Ruffin Jr., 52 of San Diego; and a Toyota Scion driven by Lisa Wehus, 24 of Temecula. According to the CHP, the two vehicles were traveling between 70 to 75 mph. The cause of the collision is not yet determined, while the investigation is underway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Caravan rolled several times through the center median, ejecting one male youth who was a passenger. A second male juvenile passenger also was partially ejected. Both died. The minivan came to a rest in the northbound lanes of the freeway. 5 additional passengers, including the driver, in the Caravan suffered various injuries and were transported to near by hospitals. The names and ages of the victims have not yet been released. The driver of the Scion was not hurt in the crash.

Tragic Auto Accidents like these can occur for any number of reasons. Determining the cause of an accident is a  important part of any legal investigation as it can be the primary factor in determining the rights of those involved.  A consultation with an  experienced trial attorney can provide the injured or their family with guidance on how to most efficiently handle the claims process and ensure that all rights and obligations are explored and resolved.
