Pedestrian Killed by Speeding Vehicle near Santa Luz and Del Sur

Joan Milazzo had just completed a hike with her husband and sister near Caminito Santa Luz Norte at 9:50am Tuesday morning when she was struck by an out of control vehicle . Witnesses nearby attempted CPR until the ambulance arrived to transport Milazzo to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. She was sadly pronounced dead at 10:57am. The 25 year old driver of the Nissan Sentra was speeding, lost control of his vehicle and hit Milazzo. Information on the driver of the vehicle has not yet been released.

Speculation into the cause of the accident makes us pause and remember to slow down when driving. Do not distract yourself with talking on your cell phone or texting while driving.
