Fatal Hit and Run Suspect Arrested in Rancho Santa Fe

July 9, 2012

A arrest has been made in a fatal hit and run accident in Rancho Santa Fe. Angel Bojorquez, 18, worked as a clerk at the Albertsons Grocery on Via De La Valle. Friday night after work he was riding his bike through Rancho Santa Fe to his home in Escondido, when he was tragically killed by a hit and run driver. A private security officer with Rancho Santa Fe Patrol found Bojorquez's body in the brush on the shoulder of Via De La Valle around 2 a.m. The California Highway Patrol, through the media, advised the public about what damage to look for on the vehicle that struck the cyclist.  This information led a neighbor of Jin Hyuk Byun to inform police that he believed Mr. Byun's 2008 Chevy Avalanche was involved in the accident. Byun was arrested Sunday evening after he was questioned by a investigator. Byon's lack of cooperation lead to a search warrant to be obtained. Jin Hyuk Byun was booked into jail for suspicion of felony hit and run and is scheduled to be arraigned in Vista Superior Court on Tuesday. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
