A Police Officer Involved in Collision That Knocks out Power to Rancho Bernardo Area

A two car collision in Rancho Bernardo has sent one person to the hospital and left many without power. The accident occurred around 6:00 am Monday morning at Paseo Montanoso, and is said to have involved a El Cajon Police Sergeant. There was a early morning traffic alert at 6:30am, causing delays for up to 2 hours. One of the vehicles is said to have hit a power box which blacked out power to over 3,000 SDG&E customers in Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, San Pasqual, Del Dios and Lake Hodges areas. By 7:45 am that number dropped to 429 that remained without power. The power is expected to be fully restored by noon today {monday}.

The accident is still under investigation with limited details at this time.
