19 Car Pile Up In Los Angeles Injured 17 Passengers

The Antelope Valley Freeway {14} shut down all southbound lanes at 10am on Tuesday morning. The Northern Los Angeles freeway closure was due to a massive pile up of 19 vehicles including a big rig. According to Mark Savage, a spokesman for the L.A. County Fire Department , 15 injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, with two in critical condition.

The big rig was pulling two trailers full of sand when it collided with multiple vehicles. Officials on the scene said the big rig appeared to be traveling at a fast speed while going around a curve around a curve when it collided with the passenger cars. Individuals were trapped in their vehicles from the sand. The driver, and details of whether he was working while driving the big rig carrying sand have not yet been released.
